I wasborn in Overton, Nevada. It is a small town at the skinny end of Lake Mead. My folks would park their RV during the winters in various RV parks on Lake Mead. Overton Beach was one of the RV parks where they spent a number of winters. My Mom was born in Overton also and my Dad had grown up in the area also. The RV park has closed up due to the receding of Lake Mead. There was a town called St. Thomas that was flooded over when the government made Lake Mead. My Dad had lived in St.Thomas as a small boy. His mother died in St. Thomas when he was 3 years old. A couple of years before my Dad diedhe hiked out to St.Thomas along with my cousin and her family. He found the foundation of his grandparents' home with initials of the family memebers in what was the basement. He remembered the layout of the town - they found the school where he had attended kinergarten or first grade. My cousin's mother had also goneto school there. Elder Bednar's mother lived in St. Thomas. His parents and my parents are buried in the same cemetery in Logandale, Nevada. I regret not going on that trip with my Dad and cousin's family. Lake Mead holds many wonderful memories for me. I recognized it immediately from your first posted picture.
