I got to meet the sweetest couple yesterday before I left our hotel in Clinton Mississippi. When the gentleman was checking in on Friday night, I called him 'Mr Kentucky' because he had something on that referenced Kentucky.
Saturday morning, he came down and was by the desk and he was wearing this bright turquoise shirt. The shirt says
LIFE IS MORE INTERESTING, WHEN YOU'RE HAPPY

I told 'Mr Kentucky' that I liked his shirt and then he and his wife started to tell me the sweet story. I won't do it justice but here it is.

Their granddaughter got diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor when she was 14. Kelsey spent a lot of time at St Jude's and was always happy. The nurses asked her why she was always happy and she said LIFE IS MORE INTERESTING, WHEN YOU'RE HAPPY.

What a great attitude for a little girl dealing with a scary disease. She did lose her life to cancer two years later.

The grandparents (Mr Kentucky and his wife) were so very sweet and teared up when telling us the story. I'm grateful to be able to hear stories like this when I travel.

Mr Kentucky and his wife were in town to go to another granddaughter's wedding. It was so fun to get to meet them.
