My supershuttle driver came to pick me up and was quite chit-chatty.
I learned that she came to Phoenix from Ukraine 10 years ago. She said that she never felt like Ukraine was where she belonged even though she had always lived there.
She didn't like the culture - the vodka drinking - the jealousy between people, and the way that everyone is always in everyone's business.
She said that she went back once a few years ago. She had two suitcases that she took on her trip. One was filled with packages that she had shopped for to take to her family and friends. When she got to Ukraine, the one suitcase mysteriously never showed up.
She was a pharmacist in Ukraine - had eight years of college behind her. When she got to Phoenix, she didn't realize that her education wouldn't count here in the US.
She has attended 4 years here and is working on getting her secondary degree now. She hasn't decided if she will go back into pharmacy or get her law degree.
She was pretty interesting. It takes all types of people
