What do you think about single women who are traveling who get a hotel room assignment on the first floor?
It doesn't usually bother me. Most of the hotels that I stay in are in areas that don't worry me.
But today I got checked into a room on the first floor and the deadbolt didn't work. I requested another room and got it - again on the first floor.
When I lived in downtown Salt Lake, I had a first floor apartment. It was on a sloped street so I had to take an elevator to get to it but then a had a sliding glass door to go out to a small patio. I remember one of the first things that I did was buy a stick and a lock for the door to help me feel more protected.
Back to hotel rooms on the first floor - what is your preference? Really after getting the type of room (nonsmoking) and the bed type, I like to be by the elevator. I always have a ton of crap and it just makes things so much easier if I'm not walking down to the end of the hall. Is that lazy?
I like the first floor when Novalie is with us because she is a hyper child constantly in motion, so I don't have to worry about her bothering people below us. However, she loves to ride the elevator, so it is a toss up.
ReplyDeleteGary always like to be on the top floor and as far away from the elevator and vending machines as possible. When I travel alone, if there is not an elevator I want the first floor. I stay in several places in Montana that do not have elevators!!!
ReplyDeleteI like top floors because of the view possibilities. I also like to have an outside opening windown when possible. I don't worry about the inside doors so much as the doors that access the outside. They need to be designed for security. In country that might have a nice outdoors access, I'm thinking like the Desert Rose I prefer the bottom floor.
