There is a very special plane in the Southwest fleet. Rod and I got to fly in the plane from Indy to Chicago on Friday. I didn't get a picture of the luggage compartments but I wish I had. Every employee from 1997 has their name on the plane.

The flight attendant that we were talking to about it (btw, her name was on the plane too) was telling us some stories about the plane. One thing that she told us was that when the plane would pull up, the employees in the airport would want to run into the plane to find their name. The company had to send out a memo to ask the employees to stop so that they could make their 15 minute turn around time.

  • Triple Crown One: (1997) Livery dedicated to the employees of Southwest, in recognition of Southwest receiving five Triple Crown airline industry awards (best on-time record, best baggage handling, and fewest customer complaints). The overhead bins in Triple Crown One one are inscribed with the names of all employees that worked for Southwest at the time, in honor of their part in winning the award.(N647SW)
