Adopting a Baby

Before I left Hot Springs, I had the chance to help check in a couple. They were so excited to tell us that their baby was going to be born on Wednesday and that they were going to stay in the hotel until the adoption went through and they could take their new baby boy home.
Well of course, as soon as I heard BABY - I thought about what I could get for the new little one.
I went shopping that very night and put everything together for Mandie's Emergency Diaper Kit. Mandie is a friend from Milwaukee who had the perfect baby gift for all the many baby showers that we had! She would put together an Emergency Diaper Kit for the car. This way when you run to the store and forget your diaper bag, you are prepared for that blow out!
It can include any of the following items (depending on how much you want to spend:
the J&J travel kit
diaper bags scented with baby powder
one change of outfit
one little toy
hand sanitizer
sunscreen
washcloth
smelly spray - if you want
travel wipes
travel changing pads
diapers

This picture was one I found online. Mine aren't that cute - I put mine into a blue rubbermaid.

I forgot what the last name of the guests was. So I left it up to Steve and Kelly to figure it out. I got an email from them today with the picture of the baby and the proud dad. They were able to deliver our little gift to them. I love it.

The woman that lived in this house is staying in our hotel now. She is not the actual palm reader. Apparently she had the sign out front of her house because it is on the main drag. She made all the appointments for the palm reader. Still kind of interesting to me. And sad to have her house destroyed.

Palm Reader Business on Fire in Hot Springs

Just in case you ever know anyone that has this happen to them, we have a great program for them. Candlewood Cares! This allows individuals to spend that first night free in one of our Candlewood hotels. Whenever someone has a disaster like a fire, we want them to have to not worry about where to spend that first night. Then later we can work with their insurance agent to figure out the details. It is a great program and I'm proud to represent a company that has such a cool program.

HOT SPRINGS NATIONAL PARK

I ventured out today and enjoyed the great weather with a quick drive up through the park.
Hot Springs LDS Ward
This is unclear because I am using google maps. I should have just taken a picture but I didn't think about it until later. The point is that the church has a lot of property here and there is almost like a grand entrance up to the church.

The ward fit in the chapel without any overflow being used. There were two young men who blessed the sacrament and I think one 12 year old boy. I didn't see many young women either.
In Relief Society (the hour where the women meet separately for instruction), I had the opportunity to introduce myself. Once I said that we were hiring, you would have thought I was a celebrity. After church, I got walked around and introduced to a few people. I'm hoping that I get at least one qualified candidate from it.

They talked about food storage and gardening before the lesson got started. I asked how many of them gardened and over half of them raised their hands. One of the women apparently has a garden that was four times the size of the room that we were in. I'm hoping to have a minute to go and visit her to see it. They were all really excited about Morning Moo Milk. I'm not into food storage but you should have heard them talk about how delicious it was and how much money they have saved this past year by using it. CRAZY!

YOGA

Today I got to go to Nurture Day Spa and Yoga Studio here in Hot Springs. It has been over a year since I have done any yoga and I loved it. My body felt so good being stretched and moved.
Here are some of the poses that I enjoyed.

And at the end of the day, I'm in a different state. I'll be here over the weekend and possibly through next weekend.

Lots of adventures to come in .......
