Blessing a building. As we get ready to open our Candlewood Suites in Pearland Texas, I thought that it would be interesting to share what is going to happen on a spiritual note before we open.

Jenn is going to bless our hotel before it opens. She grew up with a dad who was a Baptist preacher and she still practices this religion. She remembers going to her first "Grace for God" when she was 3 - this is when there is a blessing done on a new home, apartment, building or business. She will bring a white candle that is lit - it needs to stay lit the entire time. She will walk the perimeter at North, South, East and West. You personalize at each point from God by asking him to bless your family and then also ask for the area to be claimed for God. Then when you are done, you have pecan pie and iced tea.
Additional note - you must have a cross with you or on you OR a bible while preforming this ceremony.

Alpesh is also going to have a private prayer before we open. And this is called Pooja. (**Alpesh spelled this pooja but wikipedia spelled it puja) This will be a prayer to God - his God is called Ganesha (God with an elephant head) to ask for a blessing on the business.

  1. Again, you have great experiences to share. You are learning so much about so many different people's lives, traditions, customs.

  2. I first want to say I love your new back ground but now to more important stuff. I love that your staff brings their heart and soul to their work. I believe that you pick staff that bring themselves to their work and that is why your hotels are so wonderful.
