We tried a diner last night that was featured on Food Network.

Hullabaloo Diner

Here is the story:

In October 2004, the vintage diner was scheduled to be demolished at its suburban Stillwater location. A crew from Cristo Wrecking was contracted and moved large bulldozers and backhoes on site. The American Diner Museum of Providence, Rhode Island stepped into action. News of the diner's peril circulated among diner enthusiasts via the internet with a last ditch effort to locate an interested buyer. In a final act of desperation, Ebay was utilized to spread the word. With only a few days left before the demolition date, the diner was purchased by Eric Schulte and moved to a crane yard in Lancaster, Pennsylvania for safe keeping.

The following December, the 53,000 pound diner was moved 1850 miles by truck and lowboy trailer to Wellborn, Texas. The week long trip employed various permits, curfews and escorts to move the 16 foot wide by 48 foot long monster. Even though the cost of the move ended up being 5 times the purchase price of the diner, the rescue was well worth the expense. Diner restoration and expansion occurred the following year in 2005. Rich Risbon, executive chef and restaurant owner (originally from Philadelphia) provides the final touch by serving a large variety of authentic east coast diner fare for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We hope you enjoy your visit to the past.

We resisted the pies - although they looked amazing.
We asked for ranch dressing for our fries. They brought it out in a squeeze bottle - never seen that before.
Keith had liver and onions - for real!
And Rod ordered the pizza which was giant!

And it was a diner - so of course, we had milkshakes.
